Family Devo: THE IMPORTANCE OF BIBLE CLASS

Attending Bible class, also called Sunday School or Bible Study, is really important. It's when church members attend classes together before or after worship to learn more about God and the Bible. Here are 12 good reasons why you should go all the time unless you’re sick or something like that:

(1) God is pleased when we get together to study His word (1 Timothy 4:13; 2 Timothy 2:15). (2) Your friends at church want you to come because they know it's fun and you'll learn a lot. (3) The people who teach work hard to make sure they have good stuff to share. (4) Sermons are essential, but you can only learn a little from listening to one sermon a week. Bible class gives you more. (5) As you learn more, you can also help your friends understand things. (6) If you've ever wondered about something in the Bible, Bible class might show you the answer. (7) You get to know the people in your local church family better. (8) It helps kids learn good things and make good choices. (9) You get to learn stuff you won't find as easily anywhere else. (10) It's like leveling up your faith. (11) You can invite friends from outside church, and they'll learn too. (12) The more you learn, the stronger your trust in God becomes.

This week, we learned how important it is to be present in church Bible classes. Let’s say a special prayer and ask God to help us have the wisdom to prioritize our lives so that we agree with God about what’s most important in life and the strength to act accordingly.

BEING & RAISING "CHILDREN OF ISSACHAR"

I wrestled in prayer for years, trying to become like an ancient "son of Issachar." They "understood the times and knew what Israel should do" (1 Chr 12:32 NET), so they wisely supported King David. Today's "sons of Issachar" understand AD 2024 and know what the church and Christian families should do. The church is "spiritual Israel," continuing the storyline and covenants we read about in the Old Testament. Fulfilled in Christ, they now find expression through the New Covenant in His blood. Israel's mission was to bring Christ into the world. Ours is to bring Him back (2 Pet 3:11–12). This is fundamental. Jesus is King and the loyalty of the world, church, family, marriage, and individual is due Him. Humanity's duty at all these levels is to serve Him faithfully and loyally. Friday Family Devo: WEAR GOD'S ARMOR!

As we learned in last week’s devo, there’s a war going on in our world between good and evil. God is good, and all who want to be good must be on His side. God doesn’t expect us to fight without His help, though, so read Ephesians 6:10–20 together and then think about these things: When we're fighting for what’s true and right, we need to remember, we’re not alone. God gives us His strength to make us able to keep on keeping on. In fact, He promises never to leave us (Hebrews 13:5). All He asks of us in return is to trust and obey Him.  Pray for protection!
